About the Neighborhood

Huge live oaks provide Highland Court Manor with one of the best tree canopy streets in Gainesville. Homes in this established, diverse neighborhood are sturdy and affordable, and have convenient access to Downtown, the airport, the County Fairground, Ironwood Golf Course, the YMCA and numerous major roads.

City Commission Meeting Tonight: Reminder from John R. Hermsdorfer

Aug 11th, 2008 by Heather Sielicki | 0

A final reminder to the North East Neighborhoods Coalition that tonight is probably the most important city commission meeting this year for our neighborhood.  Not only do we have the opportunity to speak out for a more humane, better location for the homeless folks; but this is the also the first time our neighborhood coalition will have the chance to “show some numbers” to the city commission!

Pass the word to your friends & neighbors, give someone a ride, and let’s all meet at the entrance to the city hall auditorium tonight at 6:00PM. The meeting will be in the main auditorium of City Hall (at the corner of NE 1st St and University Ave). It starts at 6pm, and this item will come last in the evening agenda. I recommend everyone arrive at 6pm and plan to stay until 9pm. There is plenty of free parking on NE 1st St and adjacent side streets.

Alachua County Commission Candidate Forum

Aug 4th, 2008 by Heather Sielicki | 0

The University Park Neighborhood Association is sponsoring a County Commission candidate forum on August 15th, 7:30pm, at the United Church of Gainesville (1624 NW 5th Ave), in the Fellowship Hall. All candidates have been invited and currently, two candidates have confirmed attendance: Mike Byerly and Rick Bryant. The format will be the same as that we use in our City Commission candidate forums - the host will ask the same 5 - 7 questions to all of the candidates, providing them two minutes each to respond. Following that, the floor will be opened to questions from the audience.
